Is SwapToZec legit?

SwapToZec is a web app that helps you get ZEC. You bring your own receiving Zcash address, we generate a one-time deposit address on the source chain, you send funds, we monitor the deposit on-chain, and we release ZEC to your address. No custody handover of your source funds beyond the specific swap you asked for.

For the pairs we run in-house (Bitcoin, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash), we watch deposits with a watch-only wallet — the wallet has no spending keys, only public addresses. When your deposit has enough confirmations, an operator releases ZEC from a separate operator wallet using an independent signing environment. Two things follow from that:

• We can’t move your source funds anywhere except the return path when a refund is warranted (underpayment, overpayment, expired quote).
• The ZEC payout is a manual step by design. We take that trade-off on purpose because it keeps the signing environment air-gapped from the web app.

Only what a swap needs. Every swap stores the source amount, the on-chain transaction ids, the destination address you supplied, and the current status. If you create an account, we also store your email and a hashed password so we can sign you back in. That’s it — no KYC documents, no phone numbers, no ID uploads.

Guests don’t need an account. If you later sign up, the browser you used carries a signed cookie that lets us attach your past swaps to the new account. You’re never asked to type in a swap id.

Every quote shows the exchange rate, the network fee, the swap fee, and the minimum amount you’ll receive before you commit. There are no hidden spreads.

Being honest costs less than fixing a reputation. Things worth knowing:

• We’re a small team. Support answers live during business hours in Europe; async responses can take a business day.
• The ZEC payout is manual. That means a small window between your deposit confirming and your ZEC arriving — usually minutes, occasionally longer during off-hours.
• Not every pair is live yet. The pairs page lists what’s available today. Anything marked “coming soon” is genuinely coming — not a hook to farm your email.
