Large Zcash (ZEC) swaps
Move a large amount of Zcash — into ZEC or out of it — through the same automated swap flow the rest of the site uses. Quotes are generated automatically and are executable immediately: no request form, no account, and no negotiation with a trader. You see a firm price before you commit, and the request is declined rather than quoted when the system cannot stand behind a number.
People search “ZEC OTC” to move size without pushing a large order through a public order book. That is what this does — but there is no staffed desk behind it. A traditional OTC desk means a broker, agreed terms and bilateral settlement; here you get an automated price on screen and accept it or you do not. For the general large-swap process across every asset, see large crypto swaps.
How a large ZEC swap works
- Choose the asset you are sending and select ZEC.
- Enter an amount. A quote is generated automatically.
- The quote shows what you will receive, with fees already deducted.
- Enter your Zcash destination address.
- You receive deposit instructions and a funding window.
- Send the deposit. Once it is verified, ZEC is paid to the address you supplied.
No account, no email, no identity documents and no sales call. The same online flow is used across supported transaction sizes; the fee rate is the same at every size, and only quote timing changes as size increases, as described below.
Pricing at larger ZEC sizes
Larger transactions pay the same fee rate as small ones. What changes is the quote window: a quote has to hold while you decide and fund it, and over that window the market can move. The larger the transaction, the more that movement is worth, so larger quotes are held open for a shorter time rather than priced at a wider spread.
There is no size premium and no hidden charge. Two things are worth knowing before you start:
- The effective fee rate on a large swap is the same as on a small one. A firm, executable price at size is protected by a shorter quote, not a higher fee.
- The quoted figure is what you receive. The fee is already inside the number shown.
Why quote validity matters more at size
Every quote carries an expiry, and quotes for larger transactions expire sooner.
A fixed price held open is effectively a free option on the market: if ZEC moves in your favour you fund it, and if it moves against you, you walk away. At small sizes that option is worth very little. At large sizes it is worth a great deal, so the window is shorter.
The expiry governs how long you have to accept the quote and create the swap — not how long the blockchain takes to confirm. Once the swap is created you receive a separate funding window, and confirmations may continue past the original quote expiry without changing your rate.
ZEC liquidity and slippage
Slippage is the gap between the price you saw and the price you actually got. On an order book it comes from depth: a large order consumes the best offers and then progressively worse ones.
A quoted swap removes that uncertainty for you — you see one number and receive that number. The underlying market risk does not vanish; it is priced into the quote instead of being discovered during execution.
- Zcash markets are thinner than Bitcoin or Ethereum markets, so size begins to matter sooner.
- Available liquidity varies by venue and by time of day.
- A firm quote is most useful precisely when depth is uncertain.
For the mechanics — spread, market impact, and when an order book is the better tool — OTC vs exchange for large crypto trades covers both routes in detail.
Settlement and what affects timing
Four separate things determine how long a swap takes, and they are worth separating because only some of them are ours:
| Stage | What determines it |
|---|---|
| Your deposit reaching the network | The sending network's own block and finality characteristics, which vary by chain and by congestion |
| SwapToZec confirmation requirement | Bitcoin deposits require 2 confirmations. Deposits on other supported networks are verified on their own network before the swap proceeds |
| Operational processing | Handled by our operators once a deposit is confirmed |
| ZEC payout | Sent to the Zcash address you supplied |
We publish the Bitcoin confirmation requirement because it is enforced by configuration. We do not publish timing estimates for other networks, because block times vary with congestion and a figure printed here could read as a commitment we are not in a position to make.
Zcash payouts are sent to the address you supply. Transparent (t1, t3) and unified (u1) Zcash address formats are supported.
If a transaction needs attention
A swap can end up waiting for a person rather than completing automatically — most often when the deposit amount does not match the figure on the swap, or when it arrives after the funding window has closed. The swap page shows the current status throughout.
Contact is by email at support@swaptozec.com. We do not publish a response-time commitment, because we would rather not state one we cannot hold to at every hour.
Three things are worth keeping for any swap, and all three for a large one:
- The swap page link. Without an account it is the only route back to the transaction.
- The deposit transaction hash. Every question about a sent deposit starts here.
- The amount and network you actually sent on, which is not always the one you intended.
Supported routes into ZEC
Every supported asset can be swapped into Zcash. Common routes:
- Swap BTC to ZECBitcoin to Zcash
- Swap USDT to ZECTether to Zcash
- Swap USDC to ZECUSD Coin to Zcash
- Swap ETH to ZECEthereum to Zcash
- Swap BNB to ZECBNB to Zcash
- Swap SOL to ZECSolana to Zcash
Each route has its own page with the live rate and the specifics for that asset. See all routes into Zcash.
Converting an existing ZEC position
If you already hold Zcash and want to exchange it for another cryptocurrency, the flow is the same one described above, run in the other direction. You enter the ZEC amount, see what you would receive, and supply an address for the asset you want back.
These are crypto-to-crypto routes. SwapToZec exchanges one cryptocurrency for another; there is no bank transfer, card or cash leg, so converting ZEC here means ending up holding a different cryptocurrency rather than money in a bank account.
Worth deciding before you start: whether you want a dollar-denominated result or another volatile asset. Converting into USDT or USDC fixes the value in dollar terms at the point the swap is created. Converting into BTC or ETH leaves you exposed to that asset’s price instead. The quote works the same way either way; the difference is what you are holding afterwards.
- Swap ZEC to BTCZcash to Bitcoin
- Swap ZEC to USDTZcash to Tether
- Swap ZEC to USDCZcash to USD Coin
- Swap ZEC to ETHZcash to Ethereum
Each of those pages covers what is specific to that destination — network choice, settlement timing and what you hold afterwards. See all routes out of Zcash.
The same size behaviour applies in this direction: pricing widens as the amount grows, larger quotes expire sooner, and the figure shown already includes both fees.
When SwapToZec may not fit
SwapToZec swaps one cryptocurrency for another at a quoted price. That is the whole of what it does, and there are requirements it does not serve. Another route is likely to suit you better if you need:
- Fiat settlement. Every route here is crypto-to-crypto. There is no bank transfer, card or cash leg.
- A staffed OTC relationship. No broker is assigned to you and there is no one to negotiate terms with.
- A negotiated price. Pricing is automated. It is not adjusted by discussion.
- A limit order resting on an order book. You accept a quoted price or you do not; you cannot leave a price working.
- An order worked incrementally over time. A swap executes at one price for the whole amount.
These are descriptions, not criticisms — an exchange or an OTC desk is the right tool for each of them. If one describes your requirement, use it.
Frequently asked questions
- Is SwapToZec an OTC desk?
- No. There is no trading desk, no broker and no negotiation. SwapToZec is an automated swap service that can price larger transactions online. This page uses the term “OTC” because it describes the problem people are trying to solve, not because we operate a staffed desk.
- How large a ZEC swap can I request?
- The system can produce automatic quotes up to $50,000,000 when current pricing and configuration conditions permit. That is not a guarantee: when those conditions are not met, the request is declined rather than quoted at a price we cannot stand behind. The minimum swap is $100.
- Do I need an account?
- No. The normal swap flow needs no account, no email address and no identity documents. You supply a Zcash destination address and receive deposit instructions.
- Will a large swap get the same rate as a small one?
- Yes. The swap fee is the same rate at every size, and it is already included in the quote you see. Larger quotes are held open for less time, but they are not priced at a wider spread. The figure shown is what you receive.
- How long is a quote valid?
- Quotes for larger transactions expire sooner than quotes for small ones. The expiry covers accepting the quote and creating the swap. Funding the swap has its own separate window, which begins when the swap is created.
- What happens if my deposit arrives after the funding window closes?
- It is not discarded. A late deposit is reviewed and handled individually — contact support@swaptozec.com and reference your swap.
- Which assets can be swapped into ZEC?
- All supported assets can be swapped into Zcash. Common routes include Bitcoin, Ethereum, Tether, USD Coin, BNB and Solana.
- Can I swap ZEC I already hold into another cryptocurrency?
- Yes. Zcash can be the asset you send as well as the asset you receive. Common routes out are ZEC to BTC, USDT, USDC and ETH. These are crypto-to-crypto exchanges — there is no bank transfer or cash leg.
- What happens after I create the swap?
- The rate is fixed at that point and you are shown a deposit address, the exact amount to send, and a funding window. Send the exact figure shown within that window. The swap page then tracks the transaction through to the payout, which is sent to the address you supplied.
- What if my transaction needs attention?
- The swap page shows the current status throughout. If a transaction is set aside for review — most often because the amount does not match or it arrived after the funding window closed — email support@swaptozec.com with the swap link and the deposit transaction hash.
